hang in there Oldfart, I'm sure you'll have a uncomplicated and speedy recovery. In the simply act of posting this you have helped people, I know that it one more story that keeps me out of the fast food joints and hearty man meals out of my freezer. I'm sure that there are others that'll take heed to this and by doing so you have made a difference in their lives.

Thanks for sharing

Two and a half years ago I was in the Cardiac ICU with tubes in my throat and IVs in every vein, two drains in my belly. I was back to shooting in six months. I had two valves that leaked and now they have been replaced I'm shooting the M1 and 1903A3 like I did before the operation, just as bad, but with more pleasure knowing that I still can.
You will be back at the range before you miss being there too much. Take it easy and follow the doc's orders.
Oh and its not exactly a circular saw.

the surgeon had to run a circular saw up my sternum so he could spread my ribs. The edges of that bone are now being held together with a couple of feet of stainless-steel wire until they knit.
I was in that position when I was 8. Be sure to be VERY careful (as I'm sure the doctors have told you). Also, coughing doesnt seen to hurt NEARLY as bad if you clutch a pillow to your chest while you do it.Dont ask my why, but I specifically remember that.Hope you are back 100% soon, and we all appreciate the reminder that the government and bad guys with weapons arent the only things that can kill us and we need to be prepared for.

God gave us an incredible ability to heal. OF and Larry, you and your families are in my prayers. God Bless you all who are fighting unhealthy lifestyles -- it's a real struggle. Don't give up!

Thanks for the post, OldFart. I've goten my wakeup call in the form of a fasting blood sugar level of 260, but hearing about others' fights and resolve helps to strengthen my own resolve. You've made driving past BK rather than making that familiar right turn a little bit easier for me. Thanks again and may your recovery be fast and complete.

Thank you gentlemen, I'm humbled by your replies. I knew this was The High Road but I had no idea just how appropriate the name was.

Now then, let's all let Burger King, McDonalds, Dominos al all their equals die from lack of business.

Thank you again.
