Cnn ireport is calling for peoples pictures of their guns and accompanying thoughts about the gun cotrol debate. Good chance to get your sane, rational views out there in front of a bunch of people who may not already be pro-gun.

Here is the link:

Let's be sure that we think about our audience before we put material up. Remember that we're intent on helping people understand that we're responsible owners and that the firearms that the Antis want to ban are used for recreation, hunting and competition and not by a bunch of scary people.

I'm not sure I'd want to submit anything to those modern day Goebbels to distort to their own ends.

I would just let it go. I have seen some images that appear to be stock images from gun companies. Let them handle the media. CNN is just fishing for something they can use to make their statement. I am sure some idiot will post his 57 AR-15"s with his Honey Bo Bo family handling the weapons in a careless manner.

I disagree, I'd rather our members show the neighborly side of firearms ownership with these rifles than have scary images posted by reckless and thoughtless people.

I'd be really wary of it too, especially if this has anything to do with Piers Morgan--I dont know if it does, but I think I saw his name mentioned in one or two of them.

"We gave assault rifle owners a chance to explain why then needed such dangerous weapons and their high capacity clips. Most said they plan to use them against the government when it tries to take over in the future"

Yeah I have seen this before. They may pick the quirky I'll say to be nice to make us all look like idiots. Or they may be legit. Some AK47 and AR's deer hunting would be nice for people to see.

Think long and hard about how CNN will use photos/comments. Do you really think they have our interests and good intentions in mind? Really?

I have a bridge, I'd like to sell...

Looking for feedback

I am very interested in this thread. Tomorrow, I'm taking my teenaged daughter, a female workmate, and my local religious leader out for a nice round of pistol orientation. It will be the first time shooting for the 2 adults so I can't wait to see their big shiny smiles as they learn to enjoy this sport.
What do you all think about putting up a pic of 2 ladies and a clergyman on CNN? Obviously not their faces, although a pic of him in his collar would be pretty impactful no?
I'm really interested in your thoughts on this, please let me know what you'd think.

This is where we need tons of hunting pictures with an AR used to harvest meat for the table.

"Post up pictures of your guns so we know where to start the confiscation process."
No thanks. Lost all mine in one of those tragic boating accidents on a deep, nameless lake.

So we should write our elected officials, but not try to change the hearts of the people that elected them? We all know that elected officials make policies based on what will get them elected. So while writing them is good, we should be engaging our peers who stand on the other side in hopes we can change their minds. Then maybe they'll write our government as well and our influence will be expanded. CNN is giving gun owners a platform to get our message out. While it's not a prime time slot, we have to make the best of the opportunities we are presented.
