Great news! I wish we didn't have to have a permit to purchase here.

SAF Lauds Puerto Rico Court Victory For Gun Rights

BELLEVUE, Wash., June 19, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A surprising victory for gun rights in Puerto Rico has eliminated the firearms registry and licensing requirements to purchase and carry in the Commonwealth, the Second Amendment Foundation has confirmed.

The class-action lawsuit challenged various articles in Puerto Rico's gun law, which the court declared unconstitutional. Because of the ruling, Barreras said, Puerto Ricans may now carry openly or concealed without a permit, and they do not need to obtain a permit before purchasing a firearm.

I heard this morning, so happy!!! As a former TX resident, I am unsure how to proceed? Should I bring down my guns through an FFL now that a Licensa De Armas is not required???

Onward to NEW YORK and NEW JERSEY!!!!!!!
Let's also be able to pump our own gas in NJ!
(this is gun-related because the gas nozzle is kind of like a "gas gun")

Yea, does that mean us Texicans can travel to Puerto Rico with our hog legs?

And what about the US Virgin islands? Are they next?

Muy bueno. I've done a lot of business down there and have a lot of good things to say about Puerto Rico. Their gun laws, what little I've known about them, seemed at best obnoxious. Looks like that has changed. :)

Great news. I believe about a year ago Guam also loosened its firearm policies. To what extent, I don't remember exactly, but it's good to know that the concept of second Amendment rights is "infecting" even our outlying possessions and protectorates.

Wow.

Wonder if Puerto Rico can handle all that freedom. Most of the real 50 states can't.

Amazing that a territory has more freedoms concerning guns than most of the actual states. Good for them, hopefully the USVI and Guam can use this as precedent for better gun laws. Heck, maybe we all can.

wow. a friend was just trying to get me to move to the USVI. would be awesome if they did the same

so how does this Puerto Rican law effect the rest of U.S. citizens when there?

....Is reporting that there is a 60 day stay to allow the Puerto Rician government to appeal the ruling.
And that's to be expected.

This ruling was at the trial court level. That's only where these sorts of things start. The ruling was certain to be appealed; and given the scope of the ruling, a stay would not be unanticipated.

But every time a judge makes this sort of positive RKBA ruling helps.
