I started a thread in the Gen Discussion area about a dilemma I was having regarding a new purchase. Basically it was a new PC vs. a new gun. The gun won. Now that I think about it, the PC never had a chance. I had a list of potential targets that included a BHP, some kind of 1911, Glock 20, and a Sig 220. After doing a lot of thinking last night, I have decided that I want a 1911 more than anything else. I would prefer to buy new but a Delta Elite is included in this so I know that may not be possible.

So far my new list looks like this: SA, Colt, Dan Wesson Patriot, STI Trojan.

Here come the questions. Which Colts are OK to buy? I've heard so many stories about the poor quality of Colts from whenever. When was whenever? How would one go about getting an STI without going through an STI dealer(we don't have one in the great state of New Jersey)? What is a good price for a Colt DE? Assuming I can find one, that is. And finally, I thought I saw something about a new Dan Wesson pistol in 10mm but I didn't see it anywhere on the website. Anybody know what that's all about?

I have VERY limited experience w/ the guns you mentioned, so take this for what it's worth...
I bought a stainless 1991a1 last year and it was a fine performer. Shot everything I fed it and was acceptably accurate. From what I was told, the current production guns have been pretty nice & the ones I've shot have proved this out.
I have only shot one STI and it was really nice...pricey, but nice.
I've had no experience w/ Dan Wesson guns...mostly coz they're not approved in CA (so far anyway).
Good luck

I was on the 1911forum earlier today and did some checking on the Razorback. That was where I found out what I wanted to know. All I have to do now is find out how to get one. It looks like it is the number 1 contender right now.

I wishied DW would get that Razorback certifed in PRK.

The DW guy at the 1911forum said that probably isn't going to happen any time soon. The Patriot is the only one getting certified.

I'm gonna call today and find out about getting a Razorback. That is one sweet looking gun.

I have two full-size 1911s: Colt Govt .45ACP and Kimber Stainless Target II .38 super. Both guns are accurate and 100 percent reliable. Now, if only STI could make a 6-inch Trojan in 10mm.:)
