Has anybody installed the DSA "Extreme Duty Scope Mount" on thier DSA STG58 FAL?

If so What is your experience?

This is a dust cover replacement that has a picatiny rail on top.

Thanks for your input.

Back when I had my DSA, I did. Use blue lock tight on the screws, they back out regularly....

Rock solid.

Yep, put some loc-tite on the threads.

The only beefs I have .

-the cover stays on during cleaning, thus it is more difficult to clean the chamber.
-the mount/rails set just a little too high, making it difficult to find rings that will still allow use of the iron sights.

It is my favorite mount of the several that I have seen.

Pretty good mount, but may not be properly "regulated" once its in place.

Most likely, you'll need to "use up" a lot of your turret adjustment just getting on target.

Mine required about 30 minutes left windage, and about 10 minutes down elevation to get the bullets to hit actual point of aim.

Not really that big a deal if you don't expect to be messing with the turret knobs much after you get your zero.

Its a sturdy product. You won't break it.

+1000 on the blue loctite on the mounting screws. The mount will absolutely fail without loctite. Skip the loctite and you will bind the bolt carrier and/or bend the mounting plates - most likely both.

No problems with my mount either, with no loctite.
Just the same, I think I'll keep an eye on the setup.
Also, I guess I'm just lucky - my zero didn't require
nearly that much work on the windage and elevation.
In any event, enjoy that SA58. Sure am happy with mine!

Save your money, buy a rear Para sight instead, spend what you saved on ammo.

Glass on FAL's is lipstick on a pig.:cuss: It aint a DMR:banghead:

Well, that's possible W.E.G. I've "only" got about 600 rounds through it.
Also, I should have read the original post a little more carefully.
The discussion is on the STG58 - mine's an SA58. Don't know if that
makes a difference regarding the scope mount, or not.

In closing, I would beg to differ that the DSA is a "pig".

My DSA STG58 should arrive in about 10 days.

Two days ago I ordered the Extreme Duty scope mount from DSA, along with some magazines, and got an email yesterday saying the scope mount is out of stock and back-ordered. :( No time frame given, so I guess I'll get it when I get it.

Glad I bought a PTR91. Scope mount is easy to put on, take off, and shoots to the point of aim. What's not to like?

If you had to carry it very far you might change your mind;)

One mans "pig in lipstick" is another mans prom date.

AND If you add a sight to a FAL that has glass and takes battries its "a pig in high heels and lipstick".

Adding a scope does not a DMR make. 4moa, bad triggers, and chinwelds are not cool on a precision rifle.

Im not knockin the rifle, Im knocking people who got to accessorize it with extranious garbage.:cuss:

BTW, for those of us used to prices of $135/1000 round case delivered, 600 rounds is nothing. I have put 600 rounds thru a FAL in one day more than once.

Tough crowd, in here. Whew.

I guess my point was that 6-7 hundred rounds should probably
constitute a decent break-in period. That's all.

And IMHO, theres nothin' wrong with putting a decent scope
on a battle rifle. I'm not an iron sights purist, and the gun shoots
pretty good for me with the rig I have on it. Guess that's all I want
out of it, and it delivers. 'Nuff said.
