I have purchased several guns over the years on Gunbroker and it has always been an excellent experience. They’ve all been paid for using a credit card. But lately it seems that when I find a firearm that I’m interested in they don’t accept credit cards. I understand why some sellers don’t accept them. But my question is do most of you guys feel comfortable sending off a money order or cashiers check to someone that you’ve never done business with before??

I have never used anything but USPS money orders. One for over $6K for a shotgun; all went well.

credit card purchases for me, gives me some fraud protection. most importantly is look at the feedback of the seller.

Private sellers can't do credit card, check feedback. Now Gunbroker has a new Gunbroker pay system, but I have not tried it yet, fee is high. I think 6%, don't remember. If buyer to pay fine with me, but I think they put on seller.

30-some GB transactions , all with M.O.
I am very careful about evaluating feedback , and you can learn a lot about the character of a seller through pre-sale communications. Ask questions while there is still plenty of time left on the auction , use phone communications whenever possible.
Conscientious people have nothing to hide. If anything trips your radar , move on.

I always check feedback though, I wouldn't do it if it was a new seller.

Someone with more than a few transactions probably values their business potential on Gunbroker, and your positive feedback, more than ripping you off one time and losing all of that.

I've done it but don't feel comfortable doing it. No buyer protection at all. But as others have said, the seller feedback determines if I'm buying from them or not.

The consensus seems to be check sellers feedback then make your decision! Thanks guys.

There is on seller whom I have bought many low priced items from. Under $50 I usually send him cash and he mails my item same day.

I don't deal with any seller on GB unless they have an A+ feedback rating, and rarely with anyone with less than 50ish feedback responses as a seller. There are no guarantees in life and it's way shorter than we think, so take a reasonable, informed chance now and then and enjoy life. BTW, I haven't been stiffed yet in 20+ tranactions.

I've bought several guns on GB with money orders and certified checks. Granted, it makes one a little nervous, but I've never been burned. It's probably a good idea to stay away from sellers without any ratings. But my very first purchase was a money order purchase from a first-time seller, so there ya go. I do send MO's and checks with tracking, so at least I know for sure they've been delivered to the seller.

I’ve bought on GB and paid by cash, check, money order, PayPal (no gun purchases) and used GunBroker pay.

All have gone painlessly.

As was noted, check sellers feedbacks, be careful dealing with new sellers and if it doesn’t feel right walk away. :)

Good luck!

Stay safe.

I bought a gun for 1,000 dollars on gun broker. A lot of money for a po' boy like me. Sent a postal money order.
Asked myself what the he%$ have I done for about a week.
Why did I put it in a small envelope where the post office could lose it. Should have been in a larger box. lol
All worked out in the end. Probably only lost a couple of weeks of life due to worry.

I've sold a lot of guns on GB and I don't take cards. The seller is accepting a certain amount of risk as well especially if they accept regular money orders or personal checks. USPS money orders are forged frequently as well. Gunbroker Pay doesn't cost the buyer anything and it takes a day or two to link to your personal account. GB Pay is tied into some sort of cryptocurrency on the sellers end. I've used it a few times without issue, but it wasn't the fastest process.

I just bought a shotgun off gun broker, private individual with zero feedback. It was a SG I had been looking for for a while. Gent, being 'private', wanted a cashier's check.
So..worrying a 'little', took the plunge. Turns out he shipped and I received the gun before he received the check(thanks USPS..lost in the mail..sent the second UPS)
so we BOTH had to take a risk here..BUT, in general, I'd say buy from a FFL(best) and use a CC, as it offers protection.
