I think on the big magnums a gang twist barrel makes sense, especially now with the more common faster twists.
Putting together a PRC....

I may try it on the next one, I think I talked to VT or someone else who played with it some. I Don't remember if it was an exercise and increasing accuracy or barrel life......

I figured it help the bullet grip the rifling better, going zero to very quick when hitting the rifling it's got to be less stressful hitting a 1-16" and ramp up to 1-8" then straight 1-8" twist. Not sure who else is making them other then bartlin.
Walther did offer them at one point if i remember correctly dont know if they still do tho. I still havent used a Walther barrel on anything besides my .22....still havent used a Mcgowan or Bartlein either.....i should probably start thinking about it.
The Shaw barrel like i have on this .300PRC build is pretty decent for a low cost barrel, but id like to try something nicer again.

Only walther I've shoot were target air rifle, the one on my daisy 753 will do one hole at 10 meters all day. They say even the worst aftermarket barrel is better then even the best factory, tho the ruger chf barrels I've seen on the scope were really smooth. Wonder how the m18 looks.
It felt about as good as my Ridgeline and other higher end rifle barrels......Things stupid consistent thats for sure.
I can send you my bore scope if you wanna play with it.

Nah no need I really need to get one some day, the ones that plug in the usb are pretty good now. The cold hammer forged barrels seem to be smooth even Mirror finish, serenity better then button.
Yeah, I dont think they are any more intrinsically accurate, but the surface finish is usually nicer.
