I had heard that the gun show in Puyallup, WA this last weekend was supposed to be a particularly good on so made the long trip up from Portland, OR yesterday. Oh, well.......Nothing special. A little bigger than the Rose City Collectors shows here in Portland, but nothing special.

Plus side, got to spend a day with my son. Now that he is getting set to graduate from WSU I really treasure the times I get to spend a day with him.:) Did buy a Magpul PMag to try out. The only one I could find! Other than that, no deals any better than I could have found here in Portland, but got to take in the fall foliage on I-5 on the way up and back.

This Cougar Grad spend 6.5 hours on his feet at that show and it was worth it. But that's about all he spent, due to LFS (Low Funding Syndrome) :(

I am still trying to gather data on what appeared to be a civilian Inglis High Power. I didn't know they existed. It was less than 700 before the bartering, who knows what it would have actually sold for, to include the box with the importer's sticker.

Oh, and I couldn't buy the NIB S&W Model 19 with 2.5 inch barrel, unfired with the original receipt. He was selling for about 300 more than he paid many years back. Oh I want that one.

found a 100% matching ZAR Chilean 1893 mauser in excellent plus condition. Some history there!

Just curious, Don't you have to be a member of the "Washington Arms Collectors" to purchase a firearm at that show? Also, How were the ammo prices looking (Surplus particularly)?

Yes, WAC membership is required to buy firearms. Saw some SA .308 battlepacks for $70 vs. $75 last time -- a bit of an improvement, but still 2-3x what they were a year or two ago.

Bad info alert!

I found that my post was in error. There is no such thing as a civilian Inglis, this one had been refinished. It looks like not all military purchases end up with lots of inspection stamps and it seems that the agreement between Inglis and FN required the "Browning High Power etc" words on the slide.

So I was a bit fooled. But still would have liked to buy it. I have seen 2 Inglis High Powers for sale at 2 gun shows in 2 weeks. Sometimes it seems like years between a sighting.

i live just a couple miles from the fairgrounds and i go to the show about once a year. its usually the same ol' stuff. if you get there right at opening on the first day, you can sometimes find some good deals. otherwise its just a semi-fun way to kill a couple hours looking at toys and talking to gun show commandos and rude salespeople.

"Puyallup"?

Where did Puyallup get its name, anyway? Sounds like there's a story behind it:

"Dad! Dad! Sis and I fell down the well!"

"Lemme go get the horse and a rope."

"Whaddya gonna do?"

"I'm gonna puyallup!"

:)

This Coug grad wanted to go but again got pulled away to take care of stuff around the house. Maybe next month. ;)

The next WAC show at Puyallup is November 3. See you there. I found some 9mm in the Saturday Only area for $7 a box. Nothing was whispering to me, so I didn't try to push the subject.

No, this is the "WAC" rules of engagement. About 10 years or so, they thought having these regulations in place would reduce the stigmata associated with purchasing firearms at unregulated gun shows. They do a background check on individuals wishing to join the group. I suppose it makes sense. Membership lets you purchase firearms, waive the entrance fee and wear a special name badge around your neck to show your one of them. Personally, I let my membership laps after finding very few guns I wanted to spend my money on. After that, whenever I went to these shows to purchase ammo or any other gun related goodies, I felt like I was being scrutinized when I wanted to hold a weapon (due to the lack of my membership badge). Thankfully, there are still a few shows in Washington state that are non-WAC affiliated.
