px4 storm or S&W M&P 45

Hi all. I've narrowed my search down to 2 pistols. I'm considering either the Baretta Px4 Storm SD Type F or the Smith & Wesson M&P45. I'm torn as I'm a long time S&W fan but respect Baretta along with liking the new Px4 Storm design and footprint. I'd like to hear folks with any experience or opinions on these 2 firearms... I like to think I've thought through them but hearing other peoples experiences has value to me ...

While I have no experiences with any gun mentioned, I can say that I have held the Berreta PX4 before and I have to say it feels great in hand.

I would have to ask have you tried both of them out yet? To see which one you actually would like? Always read up on their mane forums to find out the good & bad about the weapon in question.

I have not shot the Berreta but have been very impressed with the relaibility and accuracy of my full size M&P45. My unit feeds 185 gr. LSWC, 185 to 230 gr. JHP and 230 gr. FMJ ammo without a hiccup and provides nice tight 10 shot groups at 50 ft which measure 1 1/4 to 2 inches.

ive shot both quite a bit and hands down PX4 wins, reliability smooth action and way more accurate than me, i carry the compact 9 (not sub) daily as my ccw

I have no experience with the Beretta, but the M&P45 will probably be the most enjoyable plastic 45 to shoot, very low felt recoil.

I own a M&P .45 FS. I like it other than round capacity. A tad shy IMO. Yeah the trigger got weird, was great new out of the box. Did my own trigger job and its fantastic. Also took off the stupid beaver tail and did some other stuff to it. I have not shot the PX4 in .45 acp. But have shot the 9mm and .40 FS. Didn't really care for them.

Mine is a late 2007 version. I'm very proud to own it. It's is my combat hand gun of choice for close in work.

I have a PX4 in .40 S&W and I like it very much. I carry it most of the time.

I have a MP45 and a Beretta PX4/40. I like both of them. They both feel great in your hand. I'll pick the Beretta because it seems like it is manufactured better.

Well, you're looking at 2 fine guns IMO..

In terms of what this shooter wants in a handgun, hammered, DA/SA, DAO, it came down to I wanted a DA/SA hammered gun..

I've owned a Px4 40 G (decocker-only) for 5yrs now and they (had 2) have a total combined 12k flawless rounds and the 2 things that really stand out are the ease of disassembley/care/inspections and the on-going accuracy being that the barrel never moves like a tilt-up barrel action does, as it simply rotates which aids in both on-going accuracy and with less motion/upwards, it reduces felt recoil and recovery.

The only negative thing about Beretta is their CS and warranty handling, slow, and they make you pay shipping but chances are real good you will not need to use their warranty..

I have shot both the Beretta P4X and S&W M&P in .45 ACP and I liked both. I feel both will serve you well so pick the one that feels best in your hand and enjoy... The M&P had slightly less felt recoil with the same ammo IMO.

I haven't shot the M&P but have worked with the 45 storm. The people who run one of our active concealed handgun classes have both 9mm and 40s to loan to people who don't have autoloaders or who do have autoloaders that don't work. they are very taken with the guns and the inexperienced shooters like them too.
They are accurate, easy to shoot and all the local examples function perfectly.

I haven't messed with any of the Beretta px4 pistols, but I do have an M&P45. It's one of my favorite pistols. Very reliable, accurate and easy to shoot. It also conceals surprisingly well for its size. The only thing I didn't like was the grit in the trigger. This is easily fixed by polishing the striker block and trigger bar, as well as some dry firing and shooting. The trigger weight is also a little on the heavy side, but is getting lighter the more I shoot and dry fire. The trigger reset is iffy. So as a whole I don't really like the trigger pull, but it can be easily improved. Apex tactical makes a great kit to fix it as well.
