I am sending my Python to Colt to correct the timing. While it is there I was wondering if there are any modifications you guys have had Colt do to a Python that will make this great shooter even better.

If I was going to the expense of having the timing corrected I'd also price some of the action-tuning jobs. The additional cost might not be that much, and any problems with timing would be taken care of anyway.

I figure I am paying the shipping anyway. Action job sounds good. I will call them and find out what they offer. Correcting the timing is $60.

I have my Python barrels ported and crowned by the good folks at http://www.magnaport.com

That doesn't do anything for their collector value, but a.) I don't sell guns, and b.) it slightly improves their shootability and accuracy. It's a rare Python manufactured after about 1970 that couldn't be improved by an action job—assuming the gunsmith knows what he's about with Pythons, to be sure.

IIRC, a Python action job from Colt was $220 in 1990 when my dad bought his last one. He declined, but I sort of wish he'd sprung for it so I could see what kind of difference it made.
