A buddy has a really nice Python. One of the finest guns I've ever shot. I keep thinking I'd like to begin the search for one, but I already have a couple 357s. I no longer own any 44 mags, so I was thinking maybe an Anaconda instead. But never even held one. I know the Python is supposed to be the sweetest of the sweet, but how close does an Anaconda come to a Python ( fit, finish, trigger, accuracy )?

Thanks,

Since the Python ans Anaconda have a totally different design action, they will feel quite different.

The Anaconda can't be tuned to the same level of smoothness as the Python and has a trigger that feels more like a Ruger.

Fit and finish of the Anaconda is a step above most other brands of revolvers, but not up to the level of the hand built and hand polished Python. (No other gun is either).

The Anaconda is a Cadillac but the Python is a Rolls Royce.

After an initial favorable response, most people I know are completely underwhelmed by the Anaconda once they fire it. No matter how many .357s you might have, there's always room for a Python, in my opinion. In fact, many would argue that it reigns as king. Whatever it is, the Anacononda will squeeze your money out of you and give you little in return.

The Anaconda may not have the old Colt action that is known for it's smoothness, but it is a brute strong big bore revolver. It can handle heavy jobs that are out of reach of the mid bore. So if that is what you require in a handgun then you do indeed get very much in return.

Saw a Python the other day at the gun shop. It was so good looking firing it was out of the question. It was simply that good looking. I cannot afford to have a safe queen yet so till then no pythons for me.

As far as the Anaconda is concerned if there is an enforcer its this one.

Good Pythons are every bit as good to shoot as look at. Hard to believe? Hah! Try it

A Python is a classic forever and arguably the best mid-revolver ever.
You won't get buyer's remorse for sure.
You will probably get addicted. :p
