I have a standard M1a that I really ike. She's pleasing to the eye, easy on me to shoot all day, accurate (if I do my part) and (being in CA, this is a novel attribute) I can drop mags....but, while fondling in the shop, I notice the Socom is easier for me to hold on target. I haven't shot one so this is purely speculative, but would it be easier & handier to have the Socom or should I just stop whining & just put the trigger time in to master my rifle? :scrutiny:

Rule Of Twos...

If it means getting rid of your Standard - then no. And this comes from a SOCOM-16 owner....I LOVE my SOCOM-16, it has become my most cherished rifle. It shoots flawlessly and accurately, but does not have the reach of a Standard. Now, if you're realistic about your shooting and shorter ranges are your thing, then I wholeheartedly recommend the SOCOM - you'll love it. But if, you cam possibly have both, then keep the Standard company with a SOCOM - won't get so lonely that way... :p
