[Q] measuring hand gun barrel

Hi,
I need to meaasure the dimentions of the witness match .38 super barrel
(as I will order a ported 9mm conversion barrel)

So the barrel maker asked me to measure the barrel
the length and the thinkness (at the minimum)

I have a dial caliper

are there any insructions on how to do this in most precisize way possible?

To measure an autolader's barrel length, stick a cleaning rod or lead pencil down the barrel, mark it even with the muzzle, and measure it.

As for thickness, I assuume you are talking about diameter.

Just measure the barrel near the muzzle with the dial calipers.
