Hello friends and neighbors. I'm working on sporterizing a Mauser stock, and have run into a wall. The little eye in the middle of stock, I don't even know what to call it. Can this thing be taken out? If so, could I plug the hole with a wooden dowel and blend it in when I refinish the thing? I'm not totally above leaving it in there, and leaving some reamnants of the original configuration when it is finished, but I think I would prefer it gone. Has anybody done this, or got an idea how? Will it drive out, unscrew, or should I take a hole saw of a larger diameter and cut it out. I just want some sound advice before I mess anything up. Sorry if this has been asked before, but I've done some searching and came up with nothing. Any help is much apprectiated.

That is for dissambely of the bolt, I think it is riveted via the insert. I would just grind on the insert and knock it out.
