sorry if this has been asked, search function turned up nada...
anyway my parts matching chinese sks has a quirk and i dont know if it is normal or if it may cause issues down the road. currently it fires every time and is quite accurate considering my eyesight. the quirk: when i reassemble/reinsert the bolt carrier or otherwise close the bolt without firing i need to give the bolt carrier a sharp tap forward to close it completely, firing closes bolt completely every time so far. as far as i see the carrier is catching on the top edge of the op-rod housing. head space seems good. will this cause problems down the line or am i being a nervous ninny? should i have it ground to fit flush or would that cause problems?
thanks for responses

Having to give it a tap when reassembling is normal. However if you need to tap the bolt closed when letting the bolt ride home there could be an issue with the locking surface either on the bolt or in the receiver. Bare in mind that's a worst case scenario.

hey, thanks for the quick reply. good to know on the reassembly catch is normal. i find that the other times the bolt closes the carrier only catches when closing a hair slow. never catches when firing. i am probably just picking at nits. thanks.

No problem, I doubt it's anything major, SKS's are fairly simple. It's likely a case of needing some more rounds down range, wear in some rough spots.

yeah, i did not think it would need worn in since it was made in '56 judging by the design features (threaded barrel, full lug, etc.). might even be sino soviet by the feature set. cant be sure since it doesnt have a full serial and factory number. just a 5 digit partial serial (437xx) and the import mark. never figured that one out, since the number is not within the parameters of any chinese/russian/etc. number system associated with the given features i found in my research. oh well. that is a mystery for another day
thanks again

Nothing wrong with paying attention, or with following through when something doesn't seem right. That's a fine habit to develop.
