I am a 21 year old MN resident with a MN Permit to Carry. As far as I've been able to determine, there is nothing to prevent me from carrying in a bar AS LONG AS I'M NOT DRINKING. I put that in all caps so no one will bring that up.

Here's the catch. My permit was issued last May before the new carry law took effect. On the back of the card it says "Not valid when consuming alcohol or drugs, nor where alcohol is sold or consumed." Am I prohibited from carrying in a bar because of that or does the new law supercede that written prohibition and allow me to carry in bars anyway? I'm wondering because I'm probably going to be DD for a couple of my friend when we go bar hopping this week and I want to know if I can carry, since I won't be drinking. Your replies are appreciated.

P.S. My permit was grandfathered in under the new law, so there is no question about its validity, only what the restrictions are.

The restrictions were "grandfather in" too. You need to get a new 5-year permit ASAP.
