Question about Benelli M-2

A local shop has the Benelli M-2 American on sale for $799.
I think these are usually around $1100 aren't they ?
Is the American a special cheaper model or something ?
American as opposed to what ? Made in Italy ? Can somebody fill me in ? I'm not that familiar with Benellis . Thanks.

Generally speaking, Benelli M1/M2 shotguns go for between $1100-$1200.

the M2 fields with the comfort stocks are the 1100 dollar ones, The American versions dont have the comfortstock and maybe a few other things but are generally much cheaper. So that is a OK price for a American but nothing to jump around about.
