Question about brass problem

I had a round of sellier and bellot give me some trouble today. In 357 magnum.

In a gp100 stainless it tied up the cylinder such that I unloaded it and figured out which of the 6 rounds was being a problem.

Without doing anything to the round, I stuck it in an sp101 and it let the cylinder close fine and cycle fine. I did not fire the problem round.

Thinking I had something along with the round being a problem I stuck it back in the gp100 and it was still a problem.

No high primer, the primer is nicely set below the brass a tiny amount.

I noticed a tiny spot showing some marring and was able to sort of work it off rather easily.

Now the round is fine in either gun.

Is there anything to worry about with one gun having more clearance than the other? Both guns are stainless and have not had problems before and I consider this a problem with the ammo and not the gun.

Basically I am now thinking the gp100 is on the tight end of factory specs and the sp101 is on the loose end. But thought I would ask.

I checked brass from both, shot same ammo in them both and the brass looks identical with no problems.

I do not reload for these guns yet but save the brass so I can.

Has anyone run into similar problems before?

Never happened with any other brand of ammo? If not, then I would say that the rim of the S&B ammo is probably a little thicker than most.

I had a Ruger Super Blackhawk that worked okay with all but Blazer aluminum-cased ammo, and it has different rims. That may be the answer. Or one case of the S&B ammo might be "out of spec".

Ran a couple more boxes of sellier and bellot through the gp100 and all seems fine.

I was more interested in the difference between the gp100 and the sp101.

I guess this difference is the reason why when you work up max loads you do it for a specific gun.

Up till now these guns have handled anything I put in them. If I have future problems I will post that as well unless it is serious and then it off the the "experts".
