Question about my del-ton kit

I ordered the mid-length 16" kit with a detachable carry handle. Figured I was good to go. Now I'm reading that the A2 front sight won't line up with my carry handle sight and I have to order a taller pin? Is that correct?

There are no options to upgrade the front sight post when selecting the kit parts. Do I need to place another order?

I have the same setup as the one you ordered and haven't had a problem with it at all. I have no idea if it lines up or not, but it hits where I aim. I am using the carry handle off of a Bushmaster if that makes a difference.

I have a del-ton middy kit with the detachable carry handle and the sights line up fine. They work with my ciener 22 conversion too with a little adjustment. Mark

Not meaning to hijack this but you midlength Del-Ton guys what does your gun weigh. I asked on another post and all I could get was 6 to 9 pounds.

Bathroom scale says five pounds even on my upper (stock but for the Phantom flash hider/pokeystick). I don't have a lower receiver yet so I couldn't tell ya total weight, but it's going to weigh the same as any other AR lower.

Just got the same setup, albeit with the CAR-length handguards, and it was right on the money out of the box. My sight-in consisted of two clicks of windage.

The answer is that the sights may or may not line up without significant adjustments being necessary, or a taller front sight pin being used. Technically, carbines and rifles with detachable carry handles should come with an "F" marked front sight base, which places the front sight post .040" higher than a standard front sight. It is often experienced that someone sighting in a new weapon equipped with a removeable carry handle (without the requisite "F" front sight base) will run out of front sight elevation before the weapon can be zeroed appropriately. The fix is to install a taller front sight post, but this will then often position the post above the protective "ears" of the front sight tower, which is annoying at best, potentially hazardous to the front sight post at worst.

The bottom line is that you'll just have to see if your particular example has this problem or not, as I don't think Del-Ton kits ship with "F" height front sight bases.
