Question about rifle purchase

I have a question. i live on the VA/NC line, in VA. There is a gun show just over the line this weekend that I want to go to. I know that I can't buy a handgun in NC, but what about rifles and shotties? I've tried searching without an exact answer.......

Federal law says it's OK to purchase long arms across state lines. Some states, like Massachusetts have laws that effectively prevent an non-residents from purchasing or possessing firearms without a license, so you need to know if you are legal to have a long arm in NC.
