I noticed that most people on this message board are patriotic and for The Constitution.

I wonder why there are so many people on here who are anti-Ron Paul.
I mean. He basically stands for everything this site stands for and then some.

Is it just that people are still brainwashed by this whole "terrorism" thing? They'll come to us if we don't get them first. And most of the other uninformed candidates (unfortunately) are in that same mindset.

How do you all feel about Ron Paul?
He's going to allow cross-country CCW, rid us of the I.R.S. & The Federal Reserve, and get back to The Constitution and the Founders' intentions.

What's the deal with people on pro-gun forums being so anti-Ron Paul??

Thanks

It's because of the people who are pro-Ron Paul and what they've done to our political discussion forums.

BTW this thread will be locked. It's not about you. It's about the people who came before you. You're late to the ugly little game.

What ugly little game?
You mean the almost fanatical following??

Please don't lock the thread. It's an honest question and I'm looking for answers.

I'm not spamming or anything. I just would like an open discussion on this matter.

it doesnt have anything to do with spam or trolling or anything really. highroad doesnt allow political discussion anymore, apparently (i didnt find the forum here till like the day before the changed it up, so i dont know first hand) it was dragging the forum down onto the "lowroad".

I'm not a moderator.

Spamming web polls, flooding discussion groups with endless pages of rants, senseless name-calling that sort of thing. Some of Ron Paul's supporters seemed to think that was how to get support. Look around the Web for reactions. They were not good.

It's not just gun boards, it's a lot of the net that has had this reaction.

If we wanted that sort of crap in our lives, we'd all be on DailyKos.

"Generating buzz" is important, but pissing off potential allies was a bad plan. It's water under the bridge, now. The damage is done, and this board has banned discussions about candidates because of what the Paulistas did to make it unusable for a while. It was closed for a while, then the new rules were put in place.

I'm sure this isn't the only place with de facto or written rules to that effect, for that reason.

See my philosophy on this is that politics is the reason why we have such horrible gun laws and half of our paychecks are assumed to be "theirs".

After all. Isn't it government officials who make/break/change laws??

I think a section for things like that should be on any pro-gun forum :/

I'm glad to see an RP fan btw!

Personally ArmedBear I think that's appauling. I'm a supporter but would never go to such childish methods such as them.

I hope you all don't think that because he has some fanatics that he's a bad choice or anything.

Personally. I feel he's America's last true patriot in our government. A true citizen-statesman.

Get informed on issues affecting the right to keep and bear arms. Coordinate activism, debate with allies and opponents. Discuss laws concerning firearm ownership, concealed carry and self-defense.
Legal forum is now for legal issues only. When giving advice, please endeavor to provide links or references to original documents, laws and other relevant resources. Please keep the topics related to guns and RKBA.
Political topics go into Activism Discussion forum -- provided they are accompanied by plans of action. Mere griping is no longer appropriate for THR. If you want to discuss an injustice or a political development, propose a remedy!
Where does a Ron Paul thread fit into this objective? This is a Legal forum, not a Political forum.

Well yeah. I used to be a member here long ago. There was a political forum. I guess I figured that the legal area would be the best place since I didn't see politics any longer.

Just to keep things on topic, does anyone know what Paul's specific stances on various topics are, besides being pro 2A?

It seems that any politician can claim to be +2A these days, despite a long track record to the contrary. When McCain claims to support the second amendment, for example, but we know better about him.

What makes Ron Paul different, aside from the fact that he doesn't have that negative track record?

Does Ron Paul support the re-opening of the machinegun registry? Does Ron Paul advocate a much needed overhaul of the BATFE to make it seem less menacing and arbitrary? Does Ron Paul support making suppressors title 1 items?

Without knowledge of what specific legal changes Paul advocates, his support of the right to keep and bear arms seems only a little less hollow than all the other candidates'.

APS

onewithgun, Oleg Volk owns both this site and the Armed Polite Society, which is a forum for the discussion of more general, very often non-firearms topics.

The "Political" side of "Legal & Political" has migrated over there.

There are quite a few (like, a whole bunch) of the THR guys who also participate over there.

Your discussion is now part of the topic material that belongs on APS in "The Politics Place" sub-forum.

Over there, you'll meet Mike Irwin and other moderators. They're a fine bunch.

They keep the place swept up and the broken glass off the floor. You'll find it friendly enough.

So, I'm going to close this thread here, but you should feel free -- and I encourage you -- to re-open it over there.

Enjoy the ride.
