Question about Ruger LCP

Hey guys, what is that little hole on top of the slide just in front of the rear sites?
I just picked up the LCP yesterday and can't figure out what that little hole is to save my life!!

It's for the firing pin retainer.

I would just think the hole would have a pin in it or something.. Something to prevent debris from getting in there. Just seems strange to have holes in it.

It's the roll pin that keeps the firing pin in place, aka striker retaining pin.

Yeah XD's have it too. Careful dry firing it. It puts a lot of stress on that pin
