I know this is a hand loading forum but a lot of you, like me, target or varmint hunt and have valuable info on scopes. I have always used leupold and nikon scopes . But am very interested in a new weaver scope. do any of you have any opinions or comparisons about weaver scopes .

They make good stuff, but it's hard to beat Nikon or the better Leupolds.

I'm gonna be using it for target shooting and hunting varmits at night . foxes bob cats and coyotes. anyone know how well thay gather light from a spot light. I've had scopes that were great at the range but not so great at night.

I have a Nikon Prostaff...best $150 I've ever spent on a scope.

I just bought one of those myself - will be trying it out tomorrow at lunch with the Boss.

I went with Nikon because I know the kind of quality that goes into their camera lenses. They're by far some of the best lenses on the planet, and are beyond durable. They understand optics as well or better then anyone out there - so I figured their scopes would probably be a safe bet.

I've bought 5 Weaver scopes in the last 2 years. A V3 (1-3x20 for $139.00), 2 V10's (2-10x50 for $159.00), and 2 V24's (6-24x42 for $310.00) They have all worked great and I am very pleased with them. For a little more you can get a Grand Slam series (a little better model) scope.

Weavers are made in Japan (a plus in my book) and have clear optics and accurate adjustments. On the AO model's the settings are spot on. They are made with one piece tubes, less chances for leaks.

The T series has been and still is used in benchrest competition and are a great choice for a fixed, high power scope.

I think they are the best value for the money and I will be buying more as needed.

I use a Weaver Grand Slam 6.5-20 on my long range rifle and have not seen anything better. However mine was made before their last takeover so I don't know about products in the last year.
