Question about selling a handgun as a package deal

Toivo (sorry I mispelled your name above - will edit), if you're not in a hurry, I'd try it as a package. Give it a week and see. If not, split it up.

That'd give us a sample size of two.

But if you're in need of the cash now, or just want to get it done, maybe split it up? I dunno, just thinking out loud. Let us know what you decide to do.

In a package like the OPs example the "extras" that were included frankly weren't worth much money so they typically wouldn't impact the situation very much.

The situation changes as the extras start approaching a higher portion of the total value of the package. Case in point:
I offered a very nice 1978 model Thompson Contender on GB with a Super 14 .223 barrel, .357 Magnum barrel, Leupold M8 4x, and Leupold mount. I started it at $849 for the complete kit, let it run for about three 1-week auctions. No bids.

I dropped it by $50/week and ran it for more 1-week auctions until I had it down to $695 for the complete kit. No bids.

I split it up and sold the components on 1-week auctions follows:
- Super 14 barrel for $275 plus shipping
- Frame/grip for $235 plus shipping
- .357 barrel for $169 plus shipping
- Leupold scope and mount for $220 plus shipping

So, that's $874 by parting it out, yet I couldn't get $695 for the entire kit.
