Question about Sights

I'm looking to get some tritium sights for my Hi Power and I'd love to get the "melted" style of Meprolight ones on Kimber 1911s. However, all the sights listed for the Hi Power are the blocky, snaggy kind. Does anyone know how much smithing it would take to get 1911 sights to fit a BHP, or if it's even possible? Thanks!

You can try Heinies. They make sights for the BHP, it'll have a smiliar sloped profile just like the Kimbers fixed sights.

Most sights would require some fitting of the sights. Something a well trusted, competent smith should be able to do for you.

Depends on whether your front sight is integral with the slide or there's a dovetail.

On the Mk.III's with dovetail fronts it could be a DIY if you're patient and reasonably handy.

Lacking a factory dovetail it'd take a skilled 'smith to cut one of the proper dimensions for whatever set you choose. It's also likely that some modification might be required to the rear dovetail for some brands of aftermarket sights.

IIWY, I'd stick with options designed specifically for the BHP. Given the differences in caliber, etc. from a 1911 they'd be more likely to require less modification to your slide to install and show closer regulation for POA/POI to coincide with 9x19 loads too.

One style of tritiums I like for CCW/SD/HD weapons is the XS 24/7 "express" set-up. They make a set for Mk.III BHPs and were/are OEM on the Charles Daly clones.

Very fast to pickup and align and precise enough for effective deployment at and a bit beyond 25 yds with practice.
