Question about the 336Marlin??

I have a 336Malin in the 35 Rem cal. The stock has a heart carved in it so I would like to replace it. I've found one for sale on EBay, but it's for a 30/30 cal, it looks the same as the 35 cal but the seller doesn't know if it will fit. Hope someone can confirmed whether it will or not....thanks in advance!!

Older Marlin 336?
It should fit as well as any other older 336 stock might fit.

The various caliber Marlin 336's all used the same receiver, so it will be close.

However, Marlin used to use red-hot receiver tangs to burn the inletting into each matched stock & receiver before final heat treating & stock finishing.

So, it may fit, but not as exactly perfect as your present stock fits.

How deep if the carving? I would be tempted to sand it out if it was fairly shallow. Someone must have loved that gun at one time.

Yeah it's a shame that he would actually carve anything into a beautiful piece like that, and yeah it's to deep to sand out, I've already tried that, so it's on to plan B....replace the stock.
