...instructors or holders:

I've found that Arkansas has a live fire requirement in the safety course to obtain a CHCL - but what I can't nail down is a requirement for minimum number of rounds fired, distances, etc.....

can anyone help me out ?

It's supposed to be 10 shots at 7 yards I believe and you just have to hit the paper. But my wife recently took the course and she shot one clip at about 5 yards, very informal, any who has shot a gun much could not fail.
I think the mostly want to see that you know how to handle your gun.
And you would be surprised in her class there was a couple people with new guns that could not get there gun to fire and they had to be shown how to work the safety.

When seconds count the police are only minutes away.

That's right it's only 10 rounds from 7 yards. You don't even have to shoot the gun that you're carrying. I cheated and used a .22lr target pistol :) Just make sure you use a semi auto for an unrestricted license.

It may depend on the instructor. I went through a guy who just wanted us to shoot a few times, The target was never even looked at for scoring. When I was practicing at a range that gave classes, people were coming in to sign up and the range suggested they practice first. I forget what they said, just it seemed a higher standard. Wish I had the course at the range think I would have gotten more out of it.
