I'm loading 255gr cast bullets in 45 auto rim for an old Webley. LEE 2nd edition has some good looking data using Accurate #7, 255gr cast loaded to 1.250, starting load of 8.6gr @ 744fps, max load 9.5gr @ 846fps - 13,600 cup.

I like to confirm data from a second source, but there is almost no data for heavy cast bullets and even less for loads that aren't heavy loads. Anyone have a suggestion for a good data source or can at least tell me if LEE's data looks OK?

Thanks,
John

That is way too heavy for a Webley. .45 ACP/AR loads are above .455 PROOF pressures.
The MAX load listed is just over the Webley's rated pressure of 13400. (6 British tons). The minimum should be well within the range,. IF the data is accurate, which is the question. How good is LEE's data? I have 9 other books, but none have loads for bullets heavier than 238gr.

Well, yes, 6 long tons is indeed 13440 lb, but British test equipment differs.
Do be careful, 744 fps is more than factory velocity even if pressure is down.

I would email Accurate(Western Powders)
I have found them to be helpful in the past, and they usually reply in a timely fashion.
