Ive had my 590 for a while now and I just realized about a week ago that it sounds like somthing is loose in the pin assembly. I have ran snap caps through it and it functions fine, Im just afraid to shoot it now lol, figured Id get some opinions first. thanks in advance!!

I just picked up my 590 (which works perfectly) and gave it a good shake. I could hear a little metallic tinkling noise in there, which I assume to be the firing pin moving back and forth within the bolt. If that is what you are hearing, it's not anything to worry about.

Don't go to a gunsmith, take your 590 apart yourself and find out how it works. It's not hard to do and you don't need any special tools

I've got a Mossburg 590, bone stock and rugged as an anvil. But a friend purchased a new 500 with the pistol grip only, then installed a Houge stock. The first time he shot it with the new stock, a part in the trigger assembly broke and wouldn't allow the gun to be pumped the last fraction of an inch.
It was the little post at the rear of the trigger that rises up to the safety that broke, and it was just floating around in there. I don't know if he reassembled it incorrectly, or if it was defective fromt the factory. He'd only fired 100-150 rounds through it.

berg, i have a mossberg 590 with the laser site on it i carried while doing armed security, i have had it over 10 or so years, and it has had many thousands of rounds through it over this time, it has rattled since day one.

as for the piece that broke off, its the actual safety, it engages a small area on the bolt, i broke mine off when i put a pistol grip on it with a bolt that was too long, it does not effect the ability of the 590 to work, it just usually wont have a safety!
