I have a friend that is moving to California and currently has a Remington 870 Tac-2 with adjustable (not folding) stock and 20 inch barrel. She has been told that it is not California Legal. Is it only the pistol grip and Mag tube extension that makes this so or was she misinformed. Also where can we check to find out for sure? On another note I am always looking for a good deal on a gun. She has offered to sell it to me But not knoing much about this model I dont know what to offer. She flat out said she will accept just about anything I offer, but being a friend I dont want to screw her over either. Any suggestions on what price would be fair for both parties? The Gun is practically NIB as it has only fired 10 shells. Also I am not interested in tactical shotguns and would like to remove the stock and pistol grip to be replaced with a "traditional style" black synthetic. Is this even possible and would it ruin the gun?
Thanks for the help.
Joe

I'm not 100% sure but I think it's legal here. As long as your barrel is over 18 inch then you can have a folding and or a ALOP stock on it.

As for the shot extension, as long as it does not hold more than 10 your also good.

Where would I be able to help her look to verify that it is legal. I have been told in the past that Cali had a no pistol grip on long guns rule. (Note I said rule cause laws are things you cant break IE: The law of gravity. The rest are merely suggestions.)
