Question on an old case

This is related, slightly, to the abduction and murder of the little girl in Florida.

Please correct me on some of the facts if I state them incorrectly, but this is from long ago and an 'old' memory.

Several years ago, a boy (in Louisiana, I think) was molested. The guilty party fled the state, was caught and extradited back to LA. As the LEO's brought him through the airport (in New Orleans, I think) on his way home, the boys dad was there waiting. Dad walks up to the perp and methodically blows him into the afterlife he deserved-in front of LEO, TV and everybody.

Does anybody remember the incident well enough to remember what was done to the dad? (Personally, I might have bought him some more ammo.)

I remember vaguely ... the guy who was shot was the Karate instructor of the man's son. Dad shot the guy on TV while pretending to be waiting at a pay phone. He used some kind of revolver I think. If you look at the tape you see that the cameraman is right inline with the shooter/shootee - the shooting could easily have ended with the cameraman or another innocent party at the airport being killed. It wasn't the smartest thing in the world to do.

I think the Dad was tried but found not guilty of the most serious charges.

You know, vigilantie justice is not a good way to go. It goes overboard, there are often mistakes, there is no end to it, etc. However, that type of 'justice' becomes more prevalent when the normal routes to justice are not working. That seems to be the way things are going now.

In the case of the guy who shot his son's molestor, we can 'understand' his FEELINGS if not condone his 'actions'. The outcome is NOT good as the boy is jeopardy of losing his dad for life now in addition to his having been molested.

All that having been said, I would be terribly conflicted if I had to sit on a jury at the dad's trial. Hard to say what I would do. Guess I would like to convict him of something like negligent discharge of a firearm in a public place and fine him $5 or some such.

Sorry, but I get all hyped up when things like this happen to kids cause I have 5 grandkids and can only imagine my feelings if someone did something like this to one of them or if it had happened to one of my kids when they were younger.

Y'all get those CCW's and help protect those kids from the predatory vermin in society!
