Hello first time posting but I have a question? I bought about 4 years ago 2 boxes of brand new in the palstic FNAL Magazines dated 1964. I was not born when they made these but always wanted a FN the mags were cheap I think I paid $20 a box. I have 19 magazines in total and I want to know what others would do. I wanted to find a 308 lower AR clone but with all I have read I am not sure of which way to go FN or a AR clone type weapon. I also bought a 100 HK mags at about 1$ each the mags are good with a few dents but nothing major. I am also looking at getting a HK or again a clone. Any Ideas holler at me.

One day I will start buying weapons to go with these odd ball magazines but when I see a bargain I usually go with it. I had thought to have them back for trading or what ever but now I am looking to field two weapons instead of buying just mags.

New FN FAL mags are going for about ~$15 each right now.
What is the writing on the wrappers?

"...100 HK mags..." Hi. Which HK? Mind you, you won't be retiring on what they're worth. Gunparts sells HK 91 mags, in excellent condition, at $11.90 each. Still a considerable increase. Milsurp accessory stuff is like that.
FAL mags are daft things. They come in metric and inch. They are not interchangeable. They run around $25 each. Another considerable increase. You do need to figure which you have. Should say what FAL they're for on the box, if it's an original box.
Kind of partial to the FAL myself. Her Majesty's Canadian Forces let me shoot a C1A1(Canadian made FAL) quite regularly, long ago. Paid me to do it too.
Always thought the op handle on an HK was in a stupid place.

FN-FAL mags have gone from glut to shortage in just the last two years. New in wrap metric mags are worth around $20 each. Inch mags are harder to find and likely worth a fair bit more, but I don't have a number to guess at.

When I bought my DSArms FAL a few years back, the mags were 7 bucks a piece on their site. G3 mags were like $3!!! Not even two weeks later when I looked again, to place an order and stock up, they jumped to 10 bucks!! Now I wish I had bought 20 of them at 10 bucks a piece. Oh well, you live and learn.

Still 2 Many Choices!?

Tell you what...
because i'm a nice guy, i'll buy your crappy box of FAL mags for double what you paid! How great am I?!? I'll cut you a $40 check as soon as you PM me with your address, heck, i'll even pay the shipping!

The carton or boxes are down at the farm I will post tommorow. I knew it was a good eal but I am a sucker for those nights I could not sleep I trolled for deals. Tapco used to run the middle of the night sales. I opened one box but the other one is still sealed in plastic that it came in. I want to do something with them as I hunt coyotes now and the bolt action is slick but I am a little slow getting that second shot off sometimes. I am going to get me an action together I really love the multiple shot option as I get slower. I do want to start another project. Is the DSA as good as it looks? I know it is up there but a good weapon is something you got to use every now and then.

"...getting that second shot off..." You really shouldn't need a second shot. What cartridge? What bullet? What distance? Handloads or factory ammo?

What nice guy you are LOL I might end up selling them if I cannot figure out what I am going to do. I do not need two 308 at the same time. I have some money that is coming my way I do this every time I get a windfall then curse myself as I see another once empty space in the gun safe filled. I will post the information on them mags. they were made in 1964 a year before my birth. I wish I had found them before the gun craze was going on last year. I priced them at the time also the damn things were like double the price from the last time I checked on them. Adios have a good evening

I handload my own 308 165 BT Nosler. I live in the south and Coyotes are hell on small farmers I raise goats and a few cows so everyone I knock down one less to worry about. The multiple shot is when two or more are caught out in the open target of oprtunity. the round is not the problem it is the slow dope behind the weapon and them coyotes do not belive in duck and cover they haul ass. I usally do not get the op to lead them. I prefer to nail them as fast as I can. Distance from my tower is usally around 200 yards but I move it from time to time or stake out someone elses property (with permission). Around here with suburbs going in I have loaded them a little hot but with the chance of the round going somewhere I do not want it to I have to usally shot from the tower or the upper part of the barn down at them. I am looking at getting my paper work back from ATF for a can I will run the load down as one neighbor (tree Hugger) hates to hear the shooting. I wish some of you guys were my nieghbor rather than others...

"...I do not need two 308 at the same time..." Think in terms of two very different rifles and forget the chambering. A 1903A3 and an M1 rifle use the same ammo, but they're not the same thing.
"...they haul ass..." Yep, like a rocket. So the chances of a second shot are slim anyway. A semi-auto .308 won't change that. Might with a .223 though. Less noise too. The few assorted forum reports about the Ruger Mini-14 Target are good(forget a standard Mini-14. Over priced, inaccurate, junk.) Lot of friggin' money for one though. A pump .223 might be an alternative.
"...308 165 BT..." Aces deer bullet. Mind you, using your deer load for varmints is fabulous practice. Wiley won't care what kills him.
"...for a can..." Expensive things, so they are. You'll have to load sub-sonic too. Try a 125 or 130 grain bullet first.
