If my Ar-15 rifle is zeroed at 100 yards, how high or low will it shoot at 25 yards? Is there a formula for determining this, or does it depend on a lot of factors? Thank you.

If it's a service rifle, it will print low at twenty five yards due to the height of the front sight above the bore. How low will depend on the velocity of the round being fired.

If you are using a scope or sight the is 2 inches above the bore line, and if you are using a 62 grain boat tail with a muzzle velocity of 2,900 fps...

Then if you are zeroed at 100 yards, your bullet impact will be 1.1 inches low at 25 yards.
It will be within one inch out to about 160 yards...
At 200 yards it will be 3.1 inches low.

This is based upon a 59 degree day at 1,000 feet above sea level.

Try this calculator, it works great. If you do not know the BC for the bullets you are using, just go to the bullet selections being sold on the Midway web page and they list the BCs for the various bullets.

If your using irons just zero it at 25 yards and you should be pretty darn close to how the sights are marked giving you a 25/300 meter zero.

Unfortunately to do this correctly you need a 25 meter range like is used in the Army, but it should be pretty close.
