What is the proper name of a Stevens handgun that had a metal "stock" secured to the grip area by two screws?

I bought one with a 12" barrel, but it lacks the stock. Someone also bubba'd the barrel area with some sort of base for a scope (maybe) where the rear sight should be. Otherwise it looks like a real weapon of mass destruction!

My aunt in around 1953 with one of them "pocket rifles" ...

No dresses in that house!

The stock was probably removed to avoid violation of the NFA, a common practice in the old days. Stock slots or attachment points were often welded or ground off so a stock could not be attached.

Today, most of those old guns have been removed from the purview of the NFA and declared Curios or Relics, so attaching an original stock would be OK.
