I have a couple of these; they fit well but I have a question. The mag pouch (which hangs vertically) has a plastic tab on the bottom with a small hole, which appears intended to attach to a belt (see photo). How does one do so, as there is no additional piece in the package? Thanks in advance

I believe they sell a strap that connects that tab to your belt.

I used a couple of my wife's hair scrunchies (black of course) to do the same. The elastic helps when you're leaning or bending.

Thank you! Funny I've never seen the tie-down set sold anywhere that Galco gunleather is sold; it's a natural tie - in (no pun intended). In fact, I don't see how you could use this rig without the tie-downs; you'd think Galco would just sell everything together as a unit.

I also have a Miami Classic; I've always wondered why they don't include those tie-down tabs with the holster. It works okay without them, but you have to adjust the shoulder straps pretty snug.

$200.00....

The main Galco site now states the retail price for the Miami Classic & the II version is approx $200.00 USD!
In the early 1990s, they sold in catalogs for about $80-90.00 and I thought that was high(for the era).

I looked around & saw the Aker Comfort Flex shoulder rigs are about $135.00 which sounds about right. ;)
I used a black leather Aker(left hand) for my Beretta 96D .40 pistol. It held up well even in summer/humid climates.

I bought my Classic in 1992, along with a Glock 20 to put in it. The holster was called "The Original Jackass Rig" when it was first released (Galco Leather was Jackass Leather Company back then). It was renamed the "Miami Classic" after Don Johnson's character started wearing it on the show.

Love to have a Bren Ten to go with it now.

Well, maybe not. Next thing you know, I'd be wearing tee shirts and Armani jackets, and shoes with no socks.

And wanting a Testarossa..........

Off topic but.....

Years ago(2001 or so: summer), I saw a sweet deal on a matched serial # set of unfired, new Bren 10 10mm pistols(with factory magazines, boxes, manuals, etc). I think the gun show booth seller asked for about $1400.00 to $1600.00 for the set.
That sounded reasonable for 2 unfired Bren 10 10mm pistols with all the extras.
If I had more space & the $$$ at the time, I would have seriously considered the offer.
A brace of unfired/NIB Bren 10s would be worth a lot today or later on to a serious collector/gun museum.

I got mine off craigslist for $60 or something really low. The guy said he wore it twice and didn't like it.

It's definitely different, but I wore mine all day today (still wearing it in fact) and it does the job.

In fact, I don't see how you could use this rig without the tie-downs; you'd think Galco would just sell everything together as a unit.

That plastic tab is there to accept a 'Tie Down', Handcuff Case or anything else you might choose to snap to it.

But you will find that IF you choose to employ 'tie downs', you'll have the weapon situated much too low for good concealment unless you are extremely short coupled in the torso or have a special need to have it that low (physical limitation).

With most shoulder holsters (particularly the Miami Classic) you'll want to adjust it such that the weapon is as high as is practical... for your build and purposes.

I've worn one for the past 18 yrs. (worn out a couple).

US Army; S&W 5906, Galco holster....

A good friend in my first MP unit purchased a Galco Miami Classic for his S&W 5906 9x19mm while deployed to USFK(South Korea). He wanted a nice concealable leather shoulder rig for the pistol when he went back to CONUS(Lubbock Texas). The Miami Vice appeal didn't hurt either.

Rusty
PS; fun fact: in NBC's TV series; Miami Vice Johnson first wore a BDA .45acp(like a SIG P220) in a Ted Blocker Lifeline shoulder holster.
The Blocker Lifeline is a decent concealment rig too IMO.

Question - where did you get those snaps to keep the loose ends of the straps neat? That's the other open issue with this rig.

I think they're called "Chicago screws" and there should be four in the package in a tiny little plastic bag that's easy to lose. You can get them at some of the big box hardware stores or your local hardware guy can order some. Or, you know, the internet....

Thunderchicken -

Thanks; I suspect they are long gone, as I bought these rigs in the early 1990's, when they were "only" $90 or so, which, as has been noted by another, seemed like a lot of money at the time.

Around here, Ace Hardware sells Chicago screws-couple bucks should buy you four or five.

So far, I've struck out at Home Depot and TruValue Hardware on the Chicago screws. At the latter place of commerce, I asked the (male) clerk if his store sold Chicago screws, and added that "they are neither a drink nor a sex act."

He laughed but that didn't change the fact he had none.

Still on the hunt - will report when and where found.

Optics Planet has a 4 pack for $4.76. Item GC-HH-SCREWB. They show to have 11 sets in stock. They also have quite a few accessories for the Galco Miami Classic holsters.

War; PMCs....

During the "war years"(2001-2012), Galco sold a accessory panel for the shoulder holsters that allowed the carry of 4 pistol magazines. :uhoh:
The firm stated this magazine holder was requested by PMCs(military contractors) & armed professionals in SW Asia who used semi auto pistols.
I saw a online listing for the magazine holder on the Galco website. It comes in black & tan(light brown). It's approx $119.00 USD.

If your area allowed open carry & you walked around with that set-up, I'm sure someone would say something to you.
You'd be ready for anything that's for sure. :D

Your welcome. About the only place around here that has them are saddle shops and them are becoming few and far between. Enjoy your Miami Classic. They are great holsters.
