Has anyone had experience with a :

6.8mm SPC Caliber • 16” M4 Profile Barrel • with 26 Round 6.8mm Magazine
Mount a “Bushmaster of a higher caliber” on your existing Lower! The .270 cal. 6.8mm SPC (Special Purpose Cartridge) was developed for the military, but is now available commercially. Velocity averages a bit over 2600 FPS (with Hornady 115 Gr. V-Max), and the heavier bullet weights deliver a terminal energy capable of bringing down larger game.

Thank you - Redroad

I don't have any experience with the Bushmaster 6.8 upper (if I'm reading your question right), but had a DPMS 16" upper and now have a 16" barrel and bolt for my LMT MRP. Good round, seems promising as an assault rifle sort of cartridge, though I don't think it has much prospect of US military adoption at this point. The main downside to it is simply price, as ammo and mags both make 5.56mm look very cheap.

If you run a search, there are a lot of 6.8 threads with further information.

I just picked up a Bushy carbine (flattop 16" with removable carry handle) for less than a grand OTD; it's partner to my two 6.8SPC builds that I did using the Ko-Tonics 16" and 18" barrels and CMT-sourced upper and lower bits. The Bushy has got an M4 profile barrel as opposed to the Ko-Tonics heavier profile and it's noticably faster handling. The Bushy uses a CMT upper (as evidenced by the OEM markings), by the way.

Shoots just fine. :D
