I did call RCBS and they tried to explain the process over the phone. There were so many steps and at least six different areas of adjustment that I got lost. The guy I talked to seemed to feeling his way thru the process himself.
I was told that I had to write down the first line of code I saw and save it in case I needed to return the unit back to the factory setting.
The RCBS guy told me that RCBS wouldn't send written instructions and discouraged customers from making adjustments.

"Onehole I have loaded thousands of pistol (low charge weights 4-9gr) rounds with my Chargemaster I would wait and try it out before messing with the perimeter settings on it."

+1. Mine goes through all three speeds depending upon how close it is to the end of the required charge weight. The speed will vary. I would not mess around with it until you have experience using it.

On the other hand, I would like to have the instructions they are giving you. When you are Sure you have the proper steps, please PM them to me or post.

You guys are right!

Went downstairs and set up the unit per instructions. Punched in 20.0 grains and got about 18 grains fast then a slow down to medium and a final trickle to exactly 20.0 grains. Same thing happened for a 12.0 grain setting. Fast to 10 grains then medium then trickle.
I misread the 25 grain notation as a minimum when in reality it it a maximum change over point.

Update,
I received my Loadmaster 1500 Combo. In a word "unbelievable". Wow, what a tool. I am still learning but it sure makes life easier.
Thanks again you guys for all the help with your experiences and opinions.

I even use mine with the progressive press at times when I want a more precise powder measurement or am just testing a small number of loads, yet still want one pull of the handle makes 1 cartridge.

Well, for informational purposes only, I have to update my post. Had to send my Chargemaster 1500 back to Oroville last week. The keypad went screwy on me. Not inputting numbers correctly. The scale still worked fine but I couldn't dispense. 5 months without a problem until this.

My RCBS beam scales never let me down in over 30 yrs of reloading. I have designed and built electronics for over 25 yrs and resisted buying one of these for as long as I could. Both RCBS and Lyman digitals have now failed on me. With only a one year warranty, if I have another problem with this one, no matter how small, I'm going back to analog.

I purchased the RCBS unit because of their reputation with customer service and their proximity to my location (the factory is within 30 minutes of me).

Well have to bring this thread back up.

I have had my chargemaster for a little over 2 years put out several thousands of rounds.

Now the scale lost the decimel point and would also hang up on start up.

Called RCBS and told them the problem.

When they asked me how long ago I purchased it. I thought that I was basically going to have to get a new scale.

They told me to send it in (the whole unit) and they would send me a new one.

I said but it's been over 2yrs and the warranty is only a yr. Was told don't worry about it just send it in.

I'm now waiting to see if a new one shows up.
