questions about my AR

Wanted to get some feedback on my m4 clone. I bought the gun from a friend a couple years ago. At the time his wife said he just had to many and so he sold me his, built with the following parts.

DelTon 16 inch crome lined barrel/upper with flash supressor
Palmetto state armory lower
Dpms bolt carrier group and parts kit
6 position collapsable stock

At the time this was made it cost 600 for him to build. I have only ever put 150 rounds through the gun. My questions are these-with this being a lower end conglomeration of parts m4 how long do you think it will last compared to a bushmaster, colt, or other high end m4? Just wondering due to everyones fear of these being impossible to buy in the future.

Also I am just now getting around to mounting a bushmaster detachable carry handle in place of the cheap one that used to be on there with non moa. adjustments. 1. do you think the bushy handle will be to high for this front sight post and 2. With the very slight amount of play in the handle forwards and backwards on the flatop is it better to have it tightened down fully forward or backwards toward the charging handle?

The AR should last for 10's of thousands of rounds. If the front sight has a F on it, it will work with the carry handle. I would keep,the carry handle towards the back end. Sounds like a good AR.

Edit: even if the FSB doesnt have a F, you can get it to work. Most 16" have a F marked FSB.

we haven't seen the text of the proposed AWB, but under the '94 AWB it was still easy and legal to get parts to fix anything that did happen to break. that said, you probably won't experience any failures unless you really abuse the rifle.

Yeah exactly that's what I'm afraid of. When I mentioned to a gun store owner what
Bolt carrier group and lower parts kit the rifle had he talked about the whole rifle like it was a giant turd. Actually he really trashed the palmetto state lower too. I'm not sure if this was sour grapes that I didn't buy from him, or what he honestly thought or a combination of both

I wouldn't say Shrubmasters are top end AR's. And there are only a handful of shops that make BCG's but a ton of companies that put their stamp on them.

Bushmaster carry handles are actually 0.04" shorter than a milspec height carry handle. If your DTI doesn't have the F-marked FSB they should be the proper height. If you do have the F-marked FSB then the taller milspec rear sight is preferred.

Yes my front sight post is F marked. Guess I'm not going to be able to zero this thing without raising the front sight post over the protective gaurds, which is retarded

the rifle is absolutely fine, be happy & keep it, or sell it to me after thousands of rounds you may need to replace parts, like anything else

I am adding something constructive. I am pointing out that when you say the rifle will last X number of rounds you are leaving out pertinent information.

Parts will be available? Link to Bolt Carrier Groups please?

Besides, even if you expect them to be available, they will have to be paid for, and that information shouldn't be completely left out
