Questions about Ruger GP100?

I also agree that $500 is a bit high.

That aside, the GP-100 is a great gun. For me, it has been nothing but reliable and fun to shoot. It's solid, and would last you a lifetime.

I've had my blued 6" model for about 3 years. Bought it new for $350. I have several other revolvers, most of them Rugers. If I could only keep one, it would be the GP-100. I love it and it is capable of shooting much better than I. I love the double action trigger. It has a good feel in single action mode, but I mostly shoot it in double action. At first the trigger was a little rough, but after probably 10,000 rounds, it's really smooth. $500 is a little high, but if it's the one you like, get it and don't look back.

I agree with those who don't like to buy a GP100 without handling it first. Some don't lock up really tight, and trigger pulls vary quite a bit, with newer ones pretty decent overall. I would rate S&W a bit better for trigger pulls, with Ruger better for lock-up, timing, and overall fitting of parts. I would imagine that the handgun prices run a little high way out there around Fort Bliss. In the Houston area, IIRC, $450-$460 sounds about right for new. I would pay $500 for a GP100 if it locked up tight, had a sweet trigger pull, and all the parts were fitted closely, exept that I don't need a fourth GP100 just yet.
