Anybody know anything about the Browning Pro-9 and the Browning Pro-40? Are they accurate? Reliable? What about magazine capacity? They are listed as holding 10 rounds but on an international site, I noticed that the Pro-9 holds 16 rounds, how much does the Pro-40 hold? Are hi-cap mags available for both models?

They use the same magazine as the FNP-9 and FNP-40. Last I checked Browning was not going to distribute full-caps, but that was months ago, as in days after the sunset.

Accurate: reasonable to excellent, depending on the individual gun. FN had some problems buying quality barrels, from a number of big names, so they decided to make their own, using their rifle barrel forging equipment. As a former barrel maker, I can say these barrels are SWEET!

Reliable: Yes

Greeting's All-

I have the 9m/m Browning Pro's NIB in stock, and yes they do come with
magazines that hold 16 rounds! We haven't received any of the .40
caliber Browning Pro's; and I honestly don't know what the hold up is?
:( The 9m/m feels really good in the hand, and balances well. :D I
can't address how these weapons actually perform, as I haven't shot
one yet? :scrutiny:

Dan, my old friend, are you saying that I can order one from the dealer? What would be a fair price for them? And can I order extra hi-cap mags?

Greeting's Alan My Friend-

The answer to all your questions is YES, indeed. Most reputable dealers
should have them in stock; or be able to obtain them from a stocking
distributor. As for a fair price, we get $539 for 'em NIB. Also, standard
16 round magazines should not be a problem; as a matter of fact, we
might even have a few in the pistol room? I will check on Thursday, as
that will be my start of the work week.

I've been waiting to hear some scoop on the Pro-9 and Pro-40. I like what I'm reading. One of these would make a good addition to my Hi-Powers and Springfield XD's. Kind of a Browning XD, sorta, kinda, a little bit. LOL :D
I like the stainless slides too.

I just picked up a used Pro 9 today. I plan on a range trip tomorrow.

The safety does indeed work like a SA. Up for safe, down to fire or decock.

And for those that may not know, you can carry it c0cked and locked. Which in my opinion is pretty darn cool.

The Pro-9 I played with in the shop was impressive, but I think anything over $500 for them is a bit much, but then again I'm somewhat of a tightwad. :D

Is Browning making these models themselves?

IIRC, sometime in the 70's Browning had a line called BDA...Browning Double Action. I think that maybe Sig made those for Browning?

IF indeed Sig is making them for Browning...OK! If not, still OK!

The Browning PRO line is manufactured by FNM, LLC (previously FNMI) in Columbia, SC.
The BDM (Browning Double Mode) was manufactured by FNMI and another company, ATI.
The BDA is a .380

Yes, the old BDA was once what is now known as the SIG P220 and imported under the Browning name in 1977 prior to Sig-Sauer/ Sauer Arms opening a distribution network in the CONUS. IIRC, another company, maybe Interarms? The old BDA (not to be confused with the .380 Browning BDA, which was a Beretta 84 made under license to Browning and no longer in the catalog) was chambered in .45ACP, .38 Super and 9mm.

I owned 2 BDA's, one in .45 and the other in 9mm, both with sub- 400 serial numbers. Hindsight, boys, hindsight...

I want my wife to go take a look at the Pro9 so I can get my BHP away from her :D

Regards,
Rabbit.

They may not be in the catalog any more (strange that they ain't) but they appear to still be in production. I bought one when they originally came out in the early 1980's and recently I've been seeing NIB models popping up on dealer shelves as well as in the CDNN catalog. Might just get another one :)
