The Gun Shop I got my .38 from has a High Standerd Sentinel .22LR for $189. They had it last time I was there. It's at the right price for me, but is the Sentinal junk or good buy? Can it handle HV rounds? I want something I can plink/shoot with.

So what should I look for when examing the gun? Aside from cracks in the frame, I'm petty clueless on metal weaking. The one I handled seemed ok, but...

As Jim said. They were a great design, and the steel-framed guns are good if they haven't been abused. As these are nine-shot revolvers be sure the one you are looking at is properally timed, and that the cylinder revolves and locks up correctly on all chambers.

The quoted price is not bad for a steel-frame gun in excellent condition. It is high for anything else.

I'm not sure since I haven't been there for a few weeks, but I think it is a steel frame.
The top amount I'm willing/afford to spend is at the most $300 for a handgun. However I prefer to spend much less then that.

I'm in the market for a .22 handgun so...

Sigh...

That was the gun that was waiting on me to come home from being born. It was " my gun." I know it is dumb to feel the way I do about the Sentinel...
I made the terrible mistake of letting my dad borrow it...only time I ever let it out of my possession, a half brother stole it and sold it for dope...I am over the mad, I still get sad...
I know it is not a Model 18 or other S&W wheel gun...someday....maybe...I can get another,...sniff...sniff...tear...

Well thanks guys, looks like I'm going to be tighting my belt and starving to cough up ~$200 for this. I almost brought this gun instead of the .38 since I am looking for a .22.

NO that is not a tear...my allergies are acting up.

I am going to save that pic though if you don' t mind...

You know, if that gun is still there friday I might go and put it in lawaway after I examine it.
Maybe I'll go hungry a few days...
