So I snatched up a used Savage 99 A. Reminds me of the feel of a Mannlicher stocked carbine, though it has a schnable instead. Love way it handles and feels. Fore-end is worn from riding in saddle scabbard, buttstock has multiple cracks where it meets receiver. Replacement seems the way to go.

Numrich lists walnut butt and fore-end in the appropriate style.

Problem is that somewhere in the back of my head red flags are waving and warning bells are going off. Don't know why, may have gotten Numrich mixed up with some other parts house.

What has been your experience with Numrich?

I've had no troubles with them even when exchanging an item that was unserviicable.
What happened I ordered 3 sets of M-14/M1-A bolt parts and one extractor had a lip that looked chewed up. It was sent back and replaced without any trouble at all.

Unlike those $@#%ing thieves at CDNN.:cuss:

Numrich is far and away the largest parts house for gun parts. They are reputable and pretty darned fast. If they make a mistake (and they do occasionally, just like anyone else dealing with a mountain of miscellaneous gun parts), they will make it right without a hassle. I wish all the dealers that I dealt with would be so good!

I have ordered several parts for guns from Numrich and have had nothing but good experiences. The parts I received were in good condition and the service was pretty fast considering it was shipped from New York to New Mexico...

Numrich sells both used and new parts (when they can get them). However a lot of their stock is obtained by stripping junked guns for useable parts. What's "useable" depends on your perspective about such things. I would ask (by e-mail) if this Savage wood is new or used, and if it's used I'd expect it would be serviceable but show wear. If it's new you probably will be satisfied. If not, they take returns.
