Does anyone own one of these and what are your impressions? I used to have a Star BM but the grips were to small for my hands so I sold it. The Model S almost looks like it has fairly large grips for a .380. Any comments would be appreciated.

Hello. First, I don't own a Model S, but have shot a couple. Despite the long grip, I do like this pistol and would likely buy one at the right price. Though large for a .380, this is one of but a few that fires from a locked breech and has a long enough bbl to get velocities at the upper end of the round's capability. It was several years ago when I fired the Model S pistols and I don't think anything but ball was fired; cannot remember for sure. Anyway, they fired and fed flawlessly.

Best.

THE STAR S OR SS IS ONE SLICK DESIGN THAT LIVES ON IN

THE COLT 380 GOVERNMENT MODEL.
I own a STAR SS [ electroless nickle finish ] in 380ACP. This is a world class 380 locked breech pistol that is wonderfully accurate, handles great [ Pederson's grip shape from the old Remington 380 ] , and can crank some bigtime numbers with handloads pushing 90gr JHP bullets.
It's downsized version was the PONY made for COLT alledgedly, plus the Iver Johnson PONY, plus someone else...phooey I can't remember the last one, guys.
Anyway, if yore lookin' for a real honest to God 380 shootin' gun these STAR S's have to be near the top of the list
I paid 140 bucks for mine, NIB, out of an estate sale from Granolafornia a couple of years ago. Ran into it purely by accident after looking for one for the past 15 or 20 years.
