I posted this on 1911forum a week or so ago and thought i had posted it here as well but seems not, if i did post this here already excuse my double tap
reacently i began a search for an AR-15 for my wife. she is ex-military and wants a specific set of features, namely she wants the gun to be as close to an M-16A1 in external appearance as possible, without breaking the bank.
after a good deal of research i had just about decided that the only route to go was to get an existing pre-ban rifle (either an SP-1 or one of the preban A2s from bushmaster, ect.) and then at a later date buy another upper (was leaning toward a C7 style) and build said upper up to near A1 specs.
then a friend steered me toward the Fulton armory page and their Hornet lightweight FAR-15. this model meets the criteria that my wife and i have on all but one count (it has round hand guards but that's an easy switch ). Thing is except for comments on the 1911forum board about Fulton Armory Garands being quality items, i know next to nothing about the company. someone i talked to said they think that fulton uppers and lowers are made from/are FN produced forgings, but again so far this has been unconfirmed.
so does anyone know anything about and/or OWN a Fulton AR??
Any and all information that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
thank you for your time
PS by "she who art getting the new toy"
This is the wife, Yes, I am ex-military, yes I am a Viet Nam Era vet, yes I came in at a time when women were still not allowed to shoot anything (they were afraid we would shoot them!!), and after all this time I want to qualify with the rifle I never got to shoot except once on field training manuvers at a clump of swamp grass. Thanks for any reply and one day I might tell you the story of being told I wasn't qualifed to stand guard with a stick because it simulated a weapon that I wasn't qualified to carry. I love the military
