Quick 1911 question for the more experienced

Hello again. Simple question for the 1911-heads out there. I am preparing to send my slide off to be re-blued. This could take up to two weeks or so until I see my slide again. My frame will just sit for this duration. The longest my 1911s have ever sat disassembled before has been a day or so at most, before reassembly. Since my frame will be sitting for two weeks or so, should I or should I not lower the hammer to let the spring rest? To make it clear, there will be no upper on the frame, for the two weeks it will sit. I've always just left the hammer cocked during cleaning in the past, but I'm asking since it will be sitting longer. Feedback and all input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Springs don't rest.

Leave it cocked, or lower the hammer.
It makes no difference to the spring.

The only thing you Do Not want to do is pull the trigger with the slide off.
That right there is Not good for things.

what rc model said is right i would leave it down just in case of accidentally dropping it though.

I'm just going to store the lower/frame in the gun's case until I get the slide back, so I don't think there's any risk of the hammer dropping, or the gun being dropped. I appreciate the feedback guys, thanks.

Just one more confirmation of what RCModel said.

Being compressed or relaxed doesn't wear out a spring. Cycling between the two states does. Same as magazine springs. Leave 'em empty or loaded, no matter. Constantly loading and unloading will wear a spring. Or cocking and decocking.

All of my 1911s stay cocked and locked. Never had an issue yet.

The fact that the frame is not attached really has no bearing.

Thanks guys, I knew I could leave a complete 1911's hammer back pretty much indefinitely, but without the upper-assembly I was unsure, you have all been quite helpful I love TheHighRoad!

i was talking about dropping the hammer, not the gun, if it were me i would find a way to fumble finger it and pull the trigger and break the hammer off before i ever got the slide back on.
