I took a G22, G27, and Robar’ed G30 out for a quick dance the other day… I was surprised to discover that I liked the 27 better than the 22. The 22 malfunctioned twice in 2 magazines: 1 failure to fire (S&B brass FMJ ammo… I’ve heard that they have ‘hard primers’… is that anywhere close to true?) and the slide failed to lock open after the last round. The 22 also felt like it had more muzzle flip than the 27.

I have had NO malfunctions of any kind with my G23C, even when it was brand new, so I must confess the malfunctions I experienced with the G22 have sort of soured me on that gun. I hope it was just due to the ammo or the fact that the gun is pretty new.

After running a couple of mags through the 27 (both with the standard mag+finger grip and with G22 mags, seemed very accurate and relatively controllable) I put a few downrange through the G30 with Robar’s grip reduction+semi-beavertail and other upgrades.

The bottom rear edge of the grip frame+magazine make a kind of sharpish edge in my fat hand, but it felt great while shooting. I was blasting plastic bottles and sandstone rocks, and it may have been my imagination but it seemed that the rocks were taking quite a beating with the 230-grain ball .45 ammo compared to the .40. The G30 also didn’t seem to kick any harder than the 27, to my surprise, and actually felt a little ‘softer’ or ‘slower-recoiling.’ In short, I dig it. I need to find some G21 mags for it now.

I definitely think the G19 and 23 feel better in my hand than the bigger 17 and 22. Some people swear by the full sized Glocks, but I don't like them at all. The grip is not only at a weird angle like all the Glocks, but it is so long that it starts to curve like a banana...feels horrible in my M-L sized hands. Looks just as dumb too.

It's weird actually, the G26/27 without a pinky extension seem to feel the best in my hands. It really just locks itself into place in my hand, even with 2 fingers on the frontstrap. The G19/23 feel ok, but the full-sized ones are the worst IMO.

I found my Glock 26 to be very accurate with the standard magazine.

It might have something to do with the lack of the grip hump that the 17 has, with the 27 it is basically gone.

Sounds like you had a great time.

Make mine a midsize

I have 2 23's, a 32 and a model 21. I have fired the 26 and the 27 and didn't really care for the feel all that much though I shot pretty well with both of them. The 23s and the 32 are the right size for me but I was surprised how much I liked the model 21 I just picked up. That is not to say that I don't want a one of the subcompacts because I do. I will most likely get the 27 though if a good deal comes up on the 33 then I will get that and buy a different barrel later.
