I've been considering a CZ based mostly on reading reviews, and handling one someone at a range owned about a year ago. (In all of the gun stores I've been in, no one has ever stocked one, and currenlty I don't know anyone who has one.)

On the CZ website in describing the 85 they say:

"The CZ 85 B is the ambidextrous version of the CZ 75. Ambidextrous controls include the safety and slide release."

Does this mean that all of the other CZ's have single-sided (right handed) safeties only?

The CZ83 has an ambi safety; other than that, I think the rest are right-hand only.

Thanks for the info. In some respects, that's very disappointing. Luckily, there are a lot of other gun makers out there that are user-friendly to us "wrong-handed" folks.

PCRCCW - thanks for clarifying. I was interested in the PCR, but I'd consider the P-01 if it had an ambi. If the PCR came in a .40 with an ambi, that'd be even better! Well, maybe someday it will.

When PCRCCW mentioned the 85's he was absolutely correct (but, in doing so, stealthily glided past one of their newest guns).

There is a still-rare CZ-85 Compact, a few hundred of which were imported to the US recently, that has ambi-controls. This would be a lot like the P-01 you want.

You may have a hard time finding that one... but I expect CZ to import something similar, next year. (The 85 Compact supposedly is available in .40 and 9mm, but I've only heard of the .40 version, thus far.)
