There is a home brew solution I have used for years and is a variant of Ed's Red which you can do a search on for the whole thing.
1/3rd Mercon Dexron Transmission Fluid
1/3rd K1 Kerosene ( I have also used Off Road Diesel with good success).
1/3rd Mineral Spirits
I have a 2 gal Blitz can, put in 2 qts of Tranny fluid, 2 qts of mineral spirits and 2 qts of K1 or Off Road Diesel.
I have placed it in bores muzzle down and left them wet with it and came back 14 months later and borescoped them and they were still wet. Doesn't turn gummy/tacky like others I have used.
Very good for cables on lawn mowers, linkage, hinges and even fire ants. Only thing I have found it is not good for is case sizing, too thin. A chemical engineer ran the ingredients and says it should be good to about 50° F below 0°
I get 1 at spray bottles at Home Depot and keep about four of them filled out in my shop.
