What's the best option...
I can pick up a rem 700 sps aac in 308 or a complete ar upper in 300 aac blackout for the same price $650 (i have a complete lower for the upper), I want something for 500 yards or less.

Applications:
500 yards or less target shooting
Deer/hog hunting within 400 yards
Reload (maybe)

The 308. I like 300blk a lot, but its job is close in work. By 300 yards it is done accuracy wise. The 308 can hunt past 400 yards if you do your part.

I'd also say the 308. It's extremely versatile and has so much more potential. Unless you plan to run a suppressor or use it as a close-up gun, .308.

I'm with everyone else - for your application the .308 is suitable, and the .300 BLK is not.

.308 with it's various bullets/weight, can do pretty much anything you want, way out to 600+ yards, if your capable! IMHO, it's one of the all time best, all around cartridges.

I've got a 300 BLK and i love it. But I wouldn't take a shot with it at anything that's past 150 yards.... albeit i do have a 9" barrel. But even if you've got a 16" barrel, its still 200 yards and in at best for hunting.

.308 a no brainer for a complete gun. You should be able to get a good .300 blk upper for less than $500.
