Folks if you could check your manuals quick for me then that would be great. Got 110gr hornady .38cal xtp bullets from their 500bullet promotion that comes with the hornady lnl ap. Used my hornady manual and settled on 5.0grs of bullseye. Starting is 4.2 and max is 6.0. Got worried when I looked at alliant's website and they list around4.5grs as max. Then looks other places online and nothing none were over 5gr as max. So what is the deal with my manual being so high? I'll be shooting these out of an sp101 but would still like to stay on the safe side. I'm using .38spl cases btw

lyman shows 4.5 max. Also, note that in your Hornady manual, the last 2 loads shown are +p. 5.2 is the max non+ load

6.0grs seems like a severe jump and a very high pressured +p. I guess I'll sling these down range and prob load the remaining 400 around 4grs. I don't feel like load developing these cause I'll never personally buy 110gr for myself. My go to is 158gr lswc. Anybody have much experience loading 110gr with bullseye that can suggest a good low powered plinker?

Never loaded that light in .38. I have loaded thousands of 158 LSWC and LSWC/HP with 231 and bullseye

Yeah I wasn't overly thrilled that all they had was 110gr. Figured since they are free it wouldn't hurt to plink with them

Understand. Once i got a real good deal on a bunch of 140 Gr SWC's for the 38.
Never did get a decently accurate load worked up for them.. But they were good enough to just go out and shoot

The Lee manual doesn't have a load set for 110 XTP with Bullseye. They have for 110 jacketed at 4.5 (min and max load). And at 125gr jacketed 4.3-4.4 of Bullseye.

Speer manual has 110gr UCHP and GDHP bullets but no XTP (no surprise there, Speer only likes putting their bullets in handloads). Their chart says 4.2-4.6 of Bullseye.

Hope this helps.

If all you want to do is make noise I suggest using your published 4.2gr START load for all of them.

That's certainly enough BE to get them down the barrel and poke a hole in the target.
